Q: What is Over 'n Out?
A: Over 'n Out is a revolutionary fire ant control. Unlike current products on the market, this brand requires only one application for year-long control. Over 'n Out is less labor intensive and is the new standard in fire ant control.
Q: What is the active ingredient in Over 'n Out?
A: Over 'n Out contains fipronil, a proprietary compound introduced to consumers by GardenTech™, makers of Sevin® insecticide. Although this compound is new to the fire ant market, it is used around the world to control other insect pests. Fipronil is the same active ingredient found in Frontline® topical flea and tick control for cats and dogs, REGENT® corn insecticide, and ICON FS® rice insecticide.

Q: How does Over 'n Out control fire ants?
A: Over 'n Out controls fire ants via absorption through the cuticle and via ingestion. Fire ants pick up the active ingredient — undetected — on their bodies, carry it back to the mound, and distribute it to other colony members through grooming, feeding, and general contact.
Q: How does Over 'n Out work?
A: Over 'n Out blocks the inhibitory nervous system of the fire ant, unlike some insecticides that activate the nervous system. This allows ample time for distribution throughout the colony before the carrier ant dies.

Q: How can Over 'n Out provide such complete control?
A: Unlike many other insecticides, fire ants can't detect the presence of fipronil. They come into contact with it, and unknowingly carry it back to the mound, infecting other fire ants inside the colony. Because Over 'n Out is slower acting than most contact insecticides, the entire colony becomes infected before the ants realize something is wrong. This allows maximum control in your entire treated area, not just on individual mounds.
Q: What is the mode of action of Over 'n Out?
A: A contact insecticide with long residual activity, Over 'n Out has a dual mode-of-action. It can be used both as a preventative or a curative treatment.

Q: What if my neighbors don't treat, will my yard become reinfested?
A: If your neighbor has fire ants and they don't treat their lawn, you may see a few foraging ants in your yard. If they enter your yard, they will come into contact with Over 'n Out and die, but they will not transfer enough active ingredient to your neighbors yard to eliminate their fire ants. The best course of action is to encourage neighbors in adjacent yards to treat with Over 'n Out, the best overall contol.
If you like to encourage your neighbors to treat their yards, contact us through this Web site to request an information kit so your entire neighborhood will treat for fire ants.
Q: How quickly does Over 'n Out work?
A: Homeowners will begin to see results with Over 'n Out within seven to 14 days. Complete fire ant control will be achieved within three weeks and can last up to one year.
>Q: How long will Over 'n Out control fire ants?
A : One application of Over 'n Out provides year-long control. No other product lasts longer.
Q: What if Over 'n Out doesn't last the full season?
A: GardenTech has issued a money-back guarantee that homeowners will have year-long fire ant control with Over 'n Out.

Application Questions
Q: How do I appy Over 'n Out?
A: Over 'n Out is a granular insecticide. It is applied to your yard with a drop or broadcast (cyclone type) spreader. The settings for most spreaders are listed on the back of the bag (or click here to find your spreader settings). Use the setting recommended for your spreader and walk in a criss-cross pattern across your lawn.
Q: Why use a broadcast treatment of Over 'n Out?
A: Mound treatments often fail to kill the queen. If the queen survives, the colony 'relocates' their mound a short distance from its original location. A broadcast treatment prevents this from happening, as well as re-infestation from outside colonies.

Q: Can Over 'n Out be used as a mound treatment
A: Over 'n Out must be broadcast over the entire area that you wish to eliminate the fire ants. Using it only as a mound treatment will not control your problem.
Q: When is the best time apply Over 'n Out?
A: The ideal time to treat is in the early spring when fire ant mounds are most evident, the ground is warming, and there is plenty of moisture. These are the conditions when fire ants are most active and likely to be foraging for food. Control is enhanced when Over 'n Out is watered in after application. While early spring is the best time to treat, you can apply Over 'n Out anytime during the year if you notice the presence of fire ants in your yard.

Q: Where can I apply Over 'n Out
A: Apply Over 'n Out to your lawn and any flower or ornamental beds adjacent to the lawn. You also can apply Over 'n Out around trees and shrubs.
Q: How long should I water after application?
A: As directed on the label, it is a good idea to thoroughly water after you apply Over 'n Out. Because fire ants like moisture, watering encourages ants to come up to the surface, which brings them into contact with Over 'n Out. Watering for approximately 30 minutes is a good idea, unless of course, it is raining!

Q: How long after I apply Over 'n Out can I let my children or pets back on the treated area?
A: There is no "re-entry" limitation after application. This means you, your children, and pets can use the treated area immediately.
Q: Will Over 'n Out control other insects such as carpenter ants, fleas, and grubs?
A: Over 'n Out controls only the red imported fire ant. Please go the section on our Sevin products for products that control these types of insects. Click here for Sevin® brand insecticides for this control

A: A large mound would be greater than one foot in diameter.
