Q : What is Over 'n Out!?

A : Over 'n Out™ is a new revolutionary fire ant control. Unlike current products on the market, this new brand requires only one application for season-long control. Over 'n Out! is less labor intensive and is the new standard in fire ant control.

Q : What is the active ingredient in Over 'n Out!?

A : Over 'n Out! fire ant killer contains fipronil, a new proprietary compound introduced to consumers by GardenTech, makers of Sevin® insecticide. Although this compound is new to the fire ant market, it is used around the world to control other insect pests. Fipronil is the same active ingredient found in Frontline® topical flea and tick control for cats and dogs, REGENT® corn insecticide, and ICON FS® rice insecticide.

Q : How does Over 'n Out control fire ants?

A : Over 'n Out! controls fire ants via absorption through the cuticle and via ingestion. Fire ants pick up the active ingredient - undetected - on their bodies, carry it back to the mound, and distribute it to other colony members through grooming, feeding, and general contact.

Q : How does Over 'n Out! work?

A : Over 'n Out! blocks the inhibitory nervous system of the fire ant, unlike some insecticides that activate the nervous system. This allows ample time for distribution throughout the colony before the carrier ant dies.

Q : How can Over 'n Out! provide such complete control?

A : Unlike many other insecticides, Fire Ants can't detect the presence of fipronil. They come into contact with it, and unknowingly carry it back to the mound, infecting other Fire Ants inside the colony. Since Over 'n Out! is slower acting than most contact insecticides, the entire colony becomes infected before the ants realize something is wrong. This allows maximum control in your entire treated area, not just on individual mounds!

Q : What is the mode-of-action of Over 'n Out!?

A : A contact insecticide with long residual activity, Over 'n Out! has a dual mode-of-action. It can be used both as a preventative treatment or a curative treatment.

Q : How do I apply Over 'n Out!?

A : Over 'n Out! is a granular insecticide. It is applied to your yard with a drop, or broadcast (cyclone type) spreader. The settings for most spreaders is listed on the back of the bag (or click here to find your spreader). Use the setting recommended for your spreader, and walk in a cross spreading pattern.

Q : Why use a broadcast treatment of Over 'n Out!?

A : Mound treatments often fail to kill the queen. If the queen survives, the colony 'relocates' their mound a short distance from its original location. A broadcast treatment prevents this from happening, as well as re-infestation from outside colonies.

Q : When is the best time to apply Over 'n Out!?

A :The ideal time to treat is in the early spring. Fire ant mounds are most evident, the ground is warming and there is plentiful moisture (rainfall). These are the conditions when fire ants are most active and likely to be foraging for food. Control is enhanced when Over 'n Out! is watered in after application. While early spring is the best time to treat, you can apply Over 'n Out! ANYTIME during the year if you notice the presence of fire ants in your yard.

Q : Where can I apply Over 'n Out!?

A : Apply Over 'n Out! to your lawn and any flower or ornamental beds adjacent to the lawn. You can also apply Over 'n Out! around trees and shrubs.

Q : How long after I apply Over 'n Out! before I can let my children or pets back on the treated area?

A : There is no "reentry" limitation after application. This means you, your children and pets can use the treated area immediately.

Q : How long should I water after application?

A : As directed on the label, it is a good idea to thoroughly water after you apply Over 'n Out!. Since fire ants like moisture, watering encourages ants to come up to the surface, which brings them into contact with Over 'n Out!. Watering for approximately 30 minutes is a good idea, unless of course, it is raining!

Q : How quickly does Over 'n Out! work?

A : Homeowners will see control with Over 'n Out! immediately. Complete fire ant control will be achieved within four to six weeks and can last up to one year.

Q : How long will Over 'n Out! control fire ants?

A : One application of Over 'n Out! provides season-long control. No other product lasts longer.

Q : What if Over 'n Out! doesn't last the full season?

A : GardenTech has issued a money-back guarantee that homeowners will have season-long fire ant control with Over 'n Out!

Q : What if my neighbors don't treat, will my yard become reinfested?

A :If your neighbor has fire ants and they don't treat their lawn with Over 'n Out!, you may see a few foraging ants in your yard. If they enter your yard, they will come into contact with Over 'n Out! and die, but they will not transfer enough active ingredient to your neighbors yard to eliminate his fire ants. Best course of action is to encourage neighbors in adjacent yards to treat with Over 'n Out!, to provide a "fire ant free zone".

If you like to encourage your neighbors to treat their yards, contact us through this website to request an information kit so you can encourage your entire neighborhood to treat with Over 'n Out!, that way you can have a fire ant free neighborhood!
